B-Net Party:
  • Sunday at 8am.
  • Wear snow boots – not ski boots.
  • Party on Headwall, Helter Skelter and Headwall.

Canada Winter Games 2019 Wrap-Up

Our athletes and coaches returned home earlier this week and they did great!!!

This was the best set of results Nova Scotian skiers have ever achieved at the Canada Winter Games.

From a provincial perspective…

Skier Brenda MacDonald with Stephen her Father as her guide won a silver medal in the PARA GS setting the tone for our team. During the week of competition Ski Nova Scotia had a top ten finisher in every event but one! We also had multiple top 20 finishes throughout.

In the final event with two Ski NS athletes in the Ski Cross final (half of the field), Shane Sommer took the gold medal passing the leader on a jump before the final turn. Shane broke his poles in in a previous run and borrowed poles from a fellow Quebec racer for the finals, which shows the true spirit of the Canada Games. Cole Fraser came in fourth place in the same event as well! This was Team Nova Scotia’s only gold medal during the games.

WSRC pride...

Out of 90-ish competitors each gender, we had:
2 top 10
3 top 20
4 top 30
3 top 40

Women’s SL Emily Todd 9th...won run 2 while Isabelle Henderson placed 14th and Lily Oakley placed 16th.
(out of 90-ish!!)

Other highlights were Alex Erith-Ellwood 20th in SL and Isabelle Henderson 22nd in Giant Slalom.  (out of 90-ish!!)

*No other single race club had 3 inside top 16.

*Nova Scotia had 5 in top 20...best Province.
