Hello Everyone!!  As the weather has displayed this week, winter is far from over and we've got lots going on...

But first, our thank you for this week goes to WSRC parent Andrew Parsons and his students of the Building Systems Program at North Nova Education Centre for building a new five place podium.  (In case you have not noticed, this year WSRC has adopted the practise of recognizing the top five finishers at our race events.)

This Weekend...

Friday
  • 46 racers from NS & NB will attend the Team Atlantic Slalom Cup in Wentworth.
  • This is a U14+ codexed event.
Saturday
  • Our Silent Auction will take place in the lodge from noon until 10:30pm.
  • We can accept last minute prize donations – hint hint

ALSO NEXT WEEKEND…THE GREAT CHILLI COOK-OFF

Two seasons ago, in a major upset, Kate’s Southwestern Turkey Chilli won the day and the golden ladle title.

Now as defender of the Golden Ladle Trophy, Kate Lovett will battle it out with the challengers…..

Duncan Gillis, who purports to have built a shelf for the trophy is confident his chilli is the winner.

Chris Lambie, disappointed by last year’s cancellation of this event, returns with a vengeance, having constructed a hot house and cultivated his own unique variety of chilli pepper over the summer while waiting for his chance at the golden ladle.

Shaun Stiles, “the butcher”, has worked with a local farmer to source his own grass fed beef which will provide the best overall flavour to his crock pot.

Sarah Terauds will use a secret family recipe passed down in the Terauds family that has fuelled generations of alpine skiers across the country.

Karen Dwyer, robbed in the last cook-off, returns to dominate the chilli landscape.  This vegetarian makes the meatiest chilli around.

Will anyone else dare to rise to the challenge amongst this gruelling list of challengers??  (Enter on the sign-up genius site:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409044aa4a728a2f49-volunteers)

And…everyone is invited to come to the clubhouse between 4:30-6:30pm to taste the chilli and cast their vote for the winner.  Chilli is free to 12-hours of WW participants.

THE WEEKEND AFTER THAT…MARCH 15, 16, 17…THE ROLAND BRUNNER

Over 100 U14+ athletes from throughout Atlantic Canada will participate in the Roland Brunner Race.

The host club provides food for all the race volunteers and coaches; this is typically donated by the host club members,  Visit our signup genius site to sign up to provide food, drink, & associated supplies:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b094ba4ad29a5f94-wsrcs
