Moving into its 25th year, the Whistler Cup has grown to become one of the largest and most important ski races in North America, as well as internationally, for young athletes. This event involves  over 400 athletes, 150 coaches and 300 volunteers. It is held under the auspice of FIS, the international governing body for alpine skiing, and with hundreds of young athletes from 25 countries participating, the Whistler Cup brings together children from many different cultures.

The Tagline for the Whistler Cup "Even Legends Need a Place to Grow"  sets the stage for this preminent ski racing event of  the world's most promising ski racing athletes.

Alpine Atlantic (AAA) is one of two districts assigned by Alpine Canada to represent the smallest provinces and sends 3 male and 3 female racers to the Whistler Cup each year.  Today, the first day of the four day event,  two of the AAA athletes, from a starting position of 48th and 49th, Ian Keefe of Wentworth and Caeden Carruthers of Crabbe, placed 11th and 14th respectively in the Super-G event.

Phenomenal results from humble Atlantic Canada; we are the only region of Canada to have two athletes place in the top 15 at today's world class event.

While we take a moment to recognize a great day for Atlantic Canadian ski racing, we wish all our athletes success at the next three days of events.
