For athletes ready to take their ski racing to the next level.
The High Performance Team delivers advanced technical and tactical training for athletes committed to training, competing, and travelling to regional and national races. With intensive on-snow training, race preparation, and opportunities to compete throughout Atlantic Canada and beyond, athletes develop the skills, discipline, resilience, and confidence needed to pursue higher levels of performance.

My Story

The U14–U18 High Performance Team (Senior Team) at the Wentworth Ski Race Club (WSRC) is for athletes ready to take their ski racing to the next level. Following Alpine Canada’s STRIVE pathway, the High Performance Team provides advanced technical and tactical training for athletes who are committed to training, competing, and pursuing higher levels of ski racing throughout Atlantic Canada and beyond.
 

Program Overview

Age Group: U14–U18 athletes

Season Dates: January 2/3 – March 21/22, 2026
High Performance athletes may have competition opportunities beyond March 21/22, including events such as Easterns and CanAms.

Options:

  • 2-day (Saturday & Sunday)

  • 3-day (Friday, Saturday & Sunday)

  • Optional Thursday/Friday add-on training may be available

STRIVE Level: Train to Race – advanced technical, tactical, and competition skills focused on higher-level performance
 

Goals of the High Performance Team

High Performance athletes are ready to make a greater commitment to their training and competition. The program is designed to help athletes:

  • Refine advanced technical skiing and racing skills

  • Develop tactical awareness and race strategy

  • Prepare for regional and national-level competition

  • Build mental focus, resilience, and competitive confidence

  • Develop discipline and independence in training and preparation

  • Learn to manage equipment and take ownership of their preparation

  • Develop leadership and sportsmanship

  • Build strong relationships and friendships within a competitive team environment
     

A Typical High Performance Training Day

High Performance training varies depending on the training and competition schedule.

7:30 AM – Meet in the shack and prepare for the day

Morning session – Technical and tactical training, race preparation, and course work

11:30 AM – Lunch with family (unsupervised)

12:25 PM – Afternoon training

4:00 PM – End of day following on-snow training and video debrief

Training days are intentionally longer and more intensive than the Development Team, reflecting the increased commitment required for athletes pursuing higher levels of competition.
 

Prerequisites

The High Performance Team is intended for athletes who:

  • Have strong skiing skills and are confident skiing independently

  • Are committed to regular training and competition

  • Are ready for a higher level of training intensity and focus

  • Are interested in regional and national race opportunities

  • Can manage their equipment and prepare independently

  • Are prepared to travel as part of the competitive program

  • Are motivated to take greater ownership of their development
     

Required Gear

  • Race skis appropriate for the athlete's disciplines, including GS and SL

  • Boots, poles, and helmet

  • Protective equipment such as chin guards and back protectors

  • Race suit recommended

  • Appropriate warm winter clothing, goggles, and mittens

  • Advanced technical and tactical coaching

  • Structured race preparation

  • Regional and national race opportunities

  • Travel throughout Atlantic Canada and beyond

  • Coaching designed to help athletes pursue their individual racing goals
